I really enjoy walking around outside in the fall. The air is crisp, and the flowers and leaves are full of reds, yellows and oranges everywhere I look. Mums are my favorite. I even like saying, "Mum...."
I even love the fading foliage of fall. It's beautiful. It gives me hope, too, that even with age, we are all still very beautiful.
Fall leaves are so pretty. I cherish a tree, blazing with the colors of autumn. We still enjoy the leaves-ironed-between-sheets-of-wax-paper craft in our family, and my kids are 23 and 18 years old. I never tire of their colors in my window, and it perks up a gray day, too.
This is my daughter, Brie. She's my sweet girl. One of our favorite activities is snapping pics together. We were at a pumpkin patch, and I caught her holding this little pumpkin. Be. Still. My. Heart. *sigh* I love fall. I love my girl.
There's nothing cheerier than a pumpkin patch! Did you know that Central Illinois is the number one producer of pumpkins in the United States? We average around 496 million pounds of pumpkins in Illinois every year. Pumpkins originated in America.
Speaking of pumpkins, how can I not mention PUMPKIN PIE???!!! It's the pinnacle of everything pumpkin, which today includes just about everything this time of year from pumpkin-spiced lattes to pumpkin-flavored gummy bears. This pie was made for me by Emily Kroner of Mahomet. And it was spectacular. That Emily is a wonderful master of the kitchen.
And how fun is Halloween? Dressing up, asking people for candy, and galloping around the neighborhood with careless abandon is is easy to take at any age. The years have gone by tooooo quickly for me, as it seems like yesterday when my sweeties were a greaser and a sock-hopper from the 1950s.
Yes, making chili is one of my favorites about fall. Nothing beats a yummy bowl of warms-up-my-tummy chili. My recipe is pretty good, too, if I do say so myself. Here's the recipe: http://athomeillinois.com/blog/2015/12/chilly-warm-some-chili
The epitome of fall fun, for me and my family, is Thanksgiving, Spending time with family-related or not- is the best! I hope you are blessed this fall season with warmth, friendship and happiness. I am thankful for YOU! <3
